Look at me go!

So, some progress photos of Hourglass Sweater:

Here's the hem, which is a nice edge, I think.

And I'm pretty pleased with how neatly I sewed the hem (generally, my sewing is pretty tacky looking). Here's the wrong side:

And the Candle Flame Shawl:

It doesn't look that different from last time, but I love the pattern. So pretty. Mazhalai, I'm using a fingering weight yarn, and getting 5 inches per repeat, which is a total of 14 for the whole shawl. If you're using the Shimmer, it may have a different row gauge.

In other news, both the a/c and the internet are working. Apparently, our a/c unit was nearly out of freon, so they had to come recharge it, which is quite a long process. But it's fine now. Tim, Comcast sounds fabulous. The few times I've had to call Charter, it's been an ordeal. They do have an automated system, but most of the time it hangs up on you before you get to talk to a person. Whenever there's a big problem, it has a busy signal. I guess it's that or SBC around here, and SBC isn't any better.

Reading: Goblet of Fire.

Writing: Still at 28,000. I'm hung up on a chapter 4 scene at the moment.

Cooking: Ha! It's too darn hot. I think I may make Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream today, though.

Tomorrow: Kitty pictures!

It's all looking so nice and pretty! I really like one slightly darker row at the edging on Hourglass. :) And the flames are looking terrific in the lace.

Okay, so I called Charter, too, because out cable wasn't even back on yet last evening..... So, I was working my way through the phone tree, and the recorded voice was about to send me to the place in which another calm-sounding recorded voice walks me through all of the "unplug your computer", "now unplug your modem", now re-boot and say 'okay' when you are done" stuff, etc. I read someplace that those automated things can detect when the caller is getting emotional.....so I shouted nonsensical words into the phone, and after doing that about twice, the voice said, "I understand that you would like to speak directly with an agent right away." Worked like a charm, though it really confused my kids, but my husband got a good chuckle out of it. Don't even ask me about the time the bill payment address changed and our bill payer system sent the bill to the wrong location.... That was a nightmare to resolve and took months until I finally found a person who was able to both understand the issue and fix it...... But, when it's all working properly....I love it!

The hem on the hourglass is so neat.

The candleflame is simply stunning.

Okay, so we're down again.....writing to you from dial-up..... Now I have to figure out if it is something on our end, and/or call the 1-800 number to see if there is a known outage..... As my dh would say, "Aren't computers great?"

okay, so our knitalong may become a Knit-a-follow because I decided not to bring the knitting with me to MN and well I'm about five rows above the "turning" round. But your hem does look very nice. I'm also still not thoroughly convinced that I like the looseness (is that a word?) of the fabric of my sweater. :-)

You know, I really like the idea of a hardback book cozy! There's something very elegant and rich-person's-library about it, expecially the dark red one you made. I could totally see a mustached man in a big arm chair picking up his pipe and sliding his book out of the book cozy. I am totally sold.

Whoops, I posted my last comment in the wrong place; it was supposed to go under the more recent post.

Knitted hems are the best, aren't they? So satisfying and polished.
